Chief Information Officer (ITO)

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on IT initiatives that strengthen teaching, research, and administrative efficiency.
  • Formulate and execute holistic IT strategies, policies, budgets, and workforce plans aligned with the University’s mission, while driving digital transformation through emerging technologies and AI.
  • Lead the planning, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise systems to meet institutional requirements.
  • Oversee the design, security, and continuous improvement of campus IT infrastructure, promoting workflow automation and process optimization.
  • Enhance the quality, responsiveness, and effectiveness of IT support services across the University community.
  • Safeguard the integrity, performance, and security of all IT systems through strong governance and control frameworks.
  • Stay ahead of technological trends, champion innovation, and advance the University’s vision of a sustainable smart campus.
  • Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • A recognized degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, AI, or a related discipline; advanced qualifications preferred.
  • Significant leadership experience in IT strategy and management at a senior level, ideally within higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead IT operations, drive organizational change, and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning, development, and implementation of IT infrastructure and enterprise systems.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of IT, IS, and AI trends, with a strong grasp of innovative technologies.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent command of English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua considered an advantage.
