Responsibilities

• Batch Job Configuration: Develop and set up batch jobs in accordance with business requirements and operational procedures, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Batch Job Scheduling and Implementation: Schedule and release batch workloads using enterprise scheduling solutions, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to meet operational deadlines.
• Operational Monitoring: Monitor batch processing activities to ensure jobs run successfully, investigating and addressing any exceptions or delays in a timely manner.
• Issue Resolution and Incident Handling: Respond to system alerts and job failures, conduct initial troubleshooting and root cause investigations, and escalate incidents when appropriate to reduce service disruption.
• Documentation Management: Maintain accurate records of job schedules, configurations, modifications, procedures, and incident logs.
• Continuous Improvement: Review existing batch processes and identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and improved operational efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with application support teams, infrastructure administrators, and business users to ensure batch operations align with business requirements.
• Security and Compliance: Follow established security standards, data centre policies, and regulatory requirements when managing jobs and processing data.
• Operational Reporting: Prepare and distribute routine reports covering batch execution results, service performance indicators, and recurring incident analysis.

Qualifications‍

• Demonstrated experience in a Batch Operator, Data Centre Operator, or similar IT operations position.
• Solid understanding of enterprise workload automation and scheduling platforms such as Control-M, AutoSys, HCL Workload
• Scheduler (formerly IBM Workload Scheduler), or equivalent solutions.
• Experience working with both mainframe and distributed batch processing environments.
• Basic scripting knowledge in technologies such as Shell Script, Python, or PowerShell for automation and troubleshooting purposes.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and incident management practices is desirable.
• Relevant industry certifications, including ITIL Foundation, Control-M, or HCL Workload Scheduler certifications, would be an advantage.

Working Environment

• Participation in a shift-based roster may be required, including overnight, weekend, and public holiday coverage to support continuous 24/7 operations.
• Availability to respond to urgent operational incidents outside normal working hours when necessary.
